Handling Speeding Tickets For Underage Drivers

If you are under 21 years old and you receive a speeding ticket, the offense is taken seriously by the state. You face immediate loss of your driver’s license for up to a year. In fact, young drivers face increased penalties for many different traffic-related offenses, including drunk driving.

Drunk Driving Laws Are Different For Minors

In Georgia, the legal limit is .08. Adults over the age of 21 can be just under this limit and still be legal to drive in the state. For many adults, .08 means several drinks before getting behind the wheel.

Adults who are younger than 21 do not have that luxury. They must have a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .02 or less. Otherwise, young drivers face drunk driving charges. This small amount of alcohol can mean less than one drink for a teenager or young twenty year old before driving.
