When someone is found with drugs and in possession of drug paraphernalia on his person or in his vehicle, they usually need a good defense. However, when a former major leaguer is accused of those same drug charges, he needs an incredibly strong defense.
A former Atlanta Brave, Otis Nixon, is now facing this situation as he was recently allegedly found with a Crack pipe in his pocket and Crack rock in his car. He was allegedly arrested back in May for the drug possession charges.
The former Brave claimed that the drugs he had on him did not belong to him. Rather, he alleges the drugs were his son’s. The former player has had a history of drug use, was suspended for 6-days back in 1991 and was unable to attend the World Series because of failing a drug test. He had a long a stories career, even with the alleged drug problems.
Most people, when facing alleged drug offenses, have the chance of facing serious consequences, if they are found guilty. For that reason, it is often best to immediately seek out assistance, so a proper defense can be formulated to either reduce charges or have them thrown out entirely.
The only way to do that is to make sure to not say anything potentially harmful upon arrest, and only speak to your attorney. Once the entire situation is discussed, the attorney will be able to discuss with the accused the best way to handle the case, based on the individual situation.
Being accused of drug charges is incredibly difficult for an individual to deal with on his own. For that reason, help should be sought so the best possible scenario can be reached.
